The Treasure Principle spoken by Jesus has its heart and soul in Matthew 6:19 where Jesus says, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” The Treasure Principle in layman terms says, when you die, “you can’t take it with you, but you can send it on ahead”. Investing in lasting values will always bring the greatest joy both here now, and when we get to heaven.
The great Methodist preacher John Wesley once said, “I judge all things only by the price they shall gain in eternity.” And my favorite quote on this subject is by a missionary named C.T. Studd who said, “Only one life, will soon be passed, only what’s done for Christ will last.”
There is one statement that Jesus recorded in Acts that doesn’t appear in the Gospels. “The Lord Jesus Himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35).
I urge you to embrace Christ’s invitation found in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you.” When He gives you more, remind yourself why – that you may be generous on every occasion. When you give, you will feel His pleasure because, “You can’t take it with you, but you can send it on ahead.”
