One could say that the most important topic of Jesus's ministry was that of the Kingdom of heaven. We are told to set our hearts on things above where Christ is, and to set our minds on things above, not on earthly things. For true believers life is now hidden with Christ in God. In order to grasp this, one must come to a spiritual transformation. In such a way one's life is now changed to desire spiritual things more than earthly things. The earthly nature is therefore a thing of the past where we are to put to death whatever belongs to our old earthly nature. The list of indulgences that we once desired is now secondary to a life that sees the benefits of Kingdom living. Jesus encouraged Kingdom living in the Sermon on the Mount message that continues to be the hallmark of Christian purpose. "Seek first the kingdom of heaven and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added." We are then encouraged to cloth ourselves with attributes that emulate the teachings of Christ. Above all of these virtues we are to put on love, which binds all of the Kingdom living principles together.
Have you ever wondered why a spiritual transformation is paramount to living a life that is pleasing to God? Without such a transformation the life we once lived in darkness and our continued separation from God would be commonplace. Take a mental note about how much has changed in you since you have experienced a spiritual transformation in your life. If no change is detected, perhaps an inquiry into your purpose for living and the future is warranted.
