Jesus tells us that we should never labor for food that perishes. This is a remarkable statement in the fact that Jesus is now regarding Himself as the true Bread of Heaven that never perishes. Jesus tells us not to spend our life pursuing things than have no ultimate significance. He said to seek that which is eternal, invest in that which doesn't perish, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, not treasures on earth. These become the" hard sayings of Jesus," when He says that we must come unto Me, be united with Me, and feast upon Me, not to just have a cavalier occasional relationship with Me, but if you're going to be Mine, if you're going to participate in the life that I have come to give, you have to eat the true Bread from heaven. Jesus asks, "Does this offend you?" We are sometimes easily offended by things that should not offend us.
Are you offended easily by the words of others? Let the words of Jesus encourage you, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty".
