In our series, “God's Will ?”, our key verse is Colossians 3:17, which says, "Whatever you do whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him". There is a power and a purpose for your life. It begins with the way you act or behave while you go about your day. Throughout biblical history there have been three ways in which God speaks to us: By the influence of others; in life situations; and in the leading of the Holy Spirit. God will lead us through the wisdom of others (especially seen in the biblical story of Isaac and Jacob in Genesis 28). Isaac told Jacob where he must go and what he was to do in order for God to bless him. Once you have the right people around you, they will help clarify God's will for your life. Never underestimate the wisdom of another one close to you. Secondly, God will use desirable as well as undesirable life situations to move you to His will. Jacob found himself in the very place God wanted him to be in order for God to bless him. God will lead you through life situations. Last but not least is the leading of the Holy Spirit. As Jacob saw the stairway of angels ascending and descending from heaven in his dream, likewise, Jesus came down the stairway to heaven, to lead us and guide us in all truth through His Holy Spirit. Jacob's response was, “How awesome is this place”, and named it Bethel, a place of worship.
Master these three components, and you will most likely know the will of God in your life experiences. Remember when we are following after the ways of God, the ways of God will lead us to the center of His will.
