In the movie The Passion of the Christ, one glaring observation that most people make is that it appears that the Jews killed Jesus. This was a controversy that led to great commotion throughout Hollywood. In fact, it was not the Jews who killed Jesus, but God Himself. Isaiah 53:10 says, "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief." The Pharisees who confronted Jesus upon His arrival in Jerusalem were mistaken when they told Jesus they had never been in bondage or a slave to anyone. Jesus' response was that anyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. Jesus, who is the Truth, leads one to the truth that sets a person free from slavery of sin. Freedom comes when the truth is found. The freedom found in salvation is not obtained by intellectual knowledge as the Gnostics imagined, but by a vital relationship with Jesus Christ, and a commitment to the truth He revealed.
Do you know why Jesus was born and why He had to die? Do you know what everyone must be able to do who wishes to be with God in eternity? Jesus said, "For this cause I was born and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice" (John 18:37).
